Painting with Cars

Car Painting is a great activity for Toddlers and Preschoolers, especially those that are car obsessed!! It is very easy to set up and can be used by 1 child or a group of children of multiple ages and skills.

We choose to do this activity outside so that it would be OK if things got messy. I also dressed my boy in old clothes so that I wouldn't be fussed if the paint didn't come out. I find this so much easier than using art smocks at this age, which can often be quite big and get in the way more than anything else!

On an old coffee table that we picked up for free from a neighbour, I taped a large piece of white paper and added blobs of paint. I choose three colours, but you could use as many or as little different colours as you like. If the children are old enough they of course can choose for themselves.

The cars I choose to use to paint with came from my boys car collection. I specifically choose cars of different sizes with different wheel patterns and purposely left all his favourite cars inside just incase some of the paint wouldn't come off. I am happy to say that by rinsing the cars off in warm water straight after the painting was finished (before any of the paint dried) that all of the cars came out sparkling clean.

My boy had a lot of fun with this activity and loved using his cars to explore paint in a new way.

The end result looked pretty fantastic too, and is now hanging on our wall!
