Jungle Fort

I have been waiting excitedly to share this fort with you as part of the Fort-Building Challenge at Building Blocks and Acorns!

Jungle Fort

A while ago now the idea for this challenge was presented and I choose to take on the Jungle Fort. Many ideas crossed my mind and the fort was becoming detailed and complicated, and then I realised that that's not what a fort is about. To me, a fort, or cubby as I would call it, is something that could be made by kids. Something simple but fun, new but with old materials, something that doesn't require a special trip to the shops but rather just a wander around your home.

The structure of the fort is made with our sectional couch backed up to each other and the cushions balanced on top to create the roof. I attached green streamers to our wall to look like vines and took our fake grass which is part of our camping gear to put underneath. Then I took a walk around our house and collected all things that reminded me of the jungle - animals, lots of wooden objects, a few books and a green cushion.

My boy was very impressed when it had all been put together. Suddenly his toys seemed exciting again, walking into the fort was an adventure and it kept him entertained for a long time!
